  • Light golden colour. Nose dominated by smoke and toasted hazelnuts, surprisingly reminiscent of a developed Chardonnay (or Champagne), with some apple and spice notes, and a hint of mushroom. Medium+ bodied, slightly viscous palate with ripe apple and some pear, spice, again some hazelnuts, a bit of minty minerality, good acidity. A fine wine for the vintage, fully developed (but then again you never know with Joly's wines). 90 p.

  • A great chenin blanc with complex aromas and a long finish.

  • Took a while for this to become drinkable. It was very hot and muted at first. However, it really opened up after 3 hours. Deep golden color - almost looked like beer! Had the wheat/grain flavors that you get in dry chenin. Lots of complexity and layers of flavors. Had the rest of it on day 3 and it was still going strong. Serious stuff.

  • Cork was damp all the way through, but the wine was sound, though I beleive it was maturing early due to this. Deep golden in color w/ a high intenisty nose of wet almond, crushed fungus, wet laundry, quince custard, damp ash, damp lawn cuttings, petrole, cinimamon, petite red berries, mace, yellow plum skin, moist pie dough, damp flower petals. The palate had a high finish of beach decay, clayed earth, fennel, lime sext, star fruit, lovage, quartz mineral, soft coastal water, seaweed, and lots of what was on the nose. The acids were bright and high and the body was moderate to full. I love chenin blancs and this was super classic and fully wonderful. The cinimon note on the nose was wild. Highly recommend for Chenin Blanc fans.
