Random wines tried during service (Oinoscent): Brought to drink during service 14.50%, decanted at 16.30 tasted at 17.30 -/- The wine shows deep golden color. In the nose the wine shows gif notes, quince jam, tin peach and apricot, a touch spicy with some more honey notes. In the palate, the wine shows medium body, high acidity, quince, tin peach and apricot again, steely, warmth, medium finish At peak I would say but it would probably stay like this for a few more years

Evocative wine with overlapping mineral with sweet perfume, giving a complex palate that rewarded the whole evening. Lovely and interesting. Finishes long.

Glowing orange salmon color. Sweet, piercing orange oil and beeswax on the nose. Notes of sweet oranges and beeswax; although seriously oxidized, you can get a glimpse of what this wine used to be.

Still very young Took a while in decanter to open up Initially aromas were of Granny Smith apples and hay and orange oil Then mushroomy and white truffle notes became more pronounced and came to dominate Eventually, the fruits re-emerged and the wine achieved a good measure of balance on the nose The texture was very elegant and not overly oily, viscous, or alcoholic — which was my fear. Very ripe fruits on palate and orange and honeyed notes towards the end

It's always interesting (and a little scary) when you open a Joly wine. The bright golden yellow color was concerting, but no oxidation on the nose. Using traditional fruit descriptors for this wine is difficult. It's more about texture, bitter/sweet profiles and minerality than fruit per se. There was a hint of butterscotch on both the nose and palate and earthy pear notes too, but it was mainly about the battle between the ripeness of the fruit and the botrytis versus the very bone dry finish, a very long finish. Nice concentration too. Fascinating and very on, especially after some time in a decanter. Give it time! I don't see this hitting a plateau soon. I loved it (A).
