Community Tasting Notes (9) Avg Score: 92 points

  • Dark golden color, bordering amber. On the nose oxidative by-products: rancio, sherry-like, a touch of formaldehyde; noticeable acidity.
On the palate dry with bit a sweetness that must stem from the extract rather than from residual sugar; also some notes of honey and nuts.
Acidity is well integrated and brings some freshness to the wine. I like it overall; it's interesting and multi-facetted; a wine to meditate over..

  • Cork was black on 1/3 of its length. Nothing could be done to save the content from that cork ...

  • The wine pours with a sherry-like amber color..
Powerful and most unusual nose: infusion like , rancid walnuts, some sweetness, jasmine tea: hard to describe.
On the palate it has oxidized and bitter sherry tones, lots of non-sugary sweetness (probably due to high extract) is quite mineral and finishes completely dry with noticeable acidity.
    Long finish
An interesting, highly intriguing and, for me, very unusual, wine
The color leads me to believe that it should be drunk rather quickly.
On day 2 (from a half bottle siphoned off and re-corked) the wine is yet taking on more sherry or vin jaune -like characteristics:the smell has deepened and both it as well as the flavor are more oxidized leaving a burning sensation on the palate ...Very interesting.. If this is typical of the wine's evolution I would not worry too much anymore about having to drink it up soon, provided of course, you are into oxidized, sherry like, styles of wine..

  • Green meadow, flowers, honey, dirt. Crushed green stem with a slight bitterness, dried flowers, high acidity, slightly viscous and round. A strange blend of simultaneous oxidative and reductive flavours. That typical Joly style of viscosity combined with high acidity and non-fruit slightly oxidative flavours. Nice

  • Weekly tasting group #229; A mixed set fully blind tasted. (@ RW): In the bouquet honey, nuts, minerals, limestone and animals. On the palate a full bodied wine with ok acidity, some sweetness and some oxidized impressions.
