  • Color: flaming medium-dark ruby with hints of purple
Nose: huge, with dark, ripe plums, blueberries, blackberries, juniper, clove, and sandalwood. There is a warm soil smell as well as a lot of facets that show up with time and air: star anise, tomato concentrate, dark cherry under spirit, incense
Palate: here is where it really shows as a very aristocratic wine. There is absolute balance. Medium-high acidity, medium tannins, still pleasantly detectable. I would call this medium-full bodied. The aromas are confirmed, with new nuance appearing with every new sip
    Finish: medium-long

Very start of the drinking window here I would say, which is exactly where i like my wine. Truly excellent wine full of nuance, charm, balance. I p&pd it but I would recommend about an hour of decant in large decanter, it does open up tremendously

  • Riper and rounder than other vintages I've opened, but that's not a bad thing. Still had good structure. Plush mouth feel with plum, dark fruit, sandalwood, spice. Made me think of a really good right bank Bordeaux.

  • The 2009 La Ricolma shows the character of this warmer vintage, yet in the best possible way. The bouquet was a dark and intense display of blackberry, crushed blueberries and ripe plum, spice cake, hints of balsamic spice and haunting florals. On the palate, silky textures were complemented with notes of ripe blackberries, blueberries and sweet herbs as lifting minerality created a cool-toned and truly satisfying expression, with fine tannin lurking in the foreground . The finish was long and amazingly fresh for such a big wine as hints of blackberry and plums slowly faded.

  • Decanted about an hour and this is just painfully young and needs much more time or air. Very pure flavors and outstanding fruit and density but no rush for sure. Classic Tuscan dust...this will be outstanding

  • Noch fast etwas zu jung! Hat richtig Frische und Tanningripp! Ausgeprägte Frucht! Nicht zu fett. Mit viel Luft geht das schon gut. Wohl besser ab 2020!?
