Lovely Rioja, very mature. Soft and easy drinking, nice fruit yet still with a bit of wood that adds character and interest. The slight bite of the oak was a nice complement to our meal of lamb tagine with sautéed sweet onions and peppers. I recommend to drink these up within a year or so before they lose their teeth.

Macerated cherries and strawberries, with plum fruit wrapped up in a aniseed and leather coat, hint of smoke and plenty of cloves swirling in the glass. Plum and cherry provide the backbone for the palate, intensely fruited with chalky tannins and a long spicy finish, lingering. Always a good quality rioja though I would drink up soon.

My first experience with this rioja, but what a pleasant one! Popped and poured out, then let sit for 30 minutes or so. Dark red in the glass; wonderfully mature; notes of leather and smoke adding interest and complexity to the plummy core; tannins very well integrated. My SO, who is not much of a wine aficionado, gave it an unqualified Yes. Could hold for another year or two, but lovely to drink right now.
