  • Champagne and claret (John's place, Croton): This has been one of my favorite Champagnes in the past, and this was my last bottle. Performed (as a number of last bottles do) at its peak, just utterly haunting with an intensely yeasty/buttery/toasty scent that's evocative of being in a bakery making all kinds of wonderful brioche and croissants. Beneath is a palate full of tart green apples, pears, and chalky mineral notes, and vibrant acids, with an impressively long finish. Stellar wine that was hard to move away from while it was on the table. Opened at the perfect time with ideal company, couldn't have asked for much more from this bottle.

  • Lucked out with an absolutely pristine bottle here, as there can be some variation with the Millésime. But tonight 2007 is fantastic, with an incredibly expressive nose showcasing the forward, accessible vintage in true form wafting layers of rich caramelized orchard fruit balanced with tertiary character, roasted nuts and freshly baked brioche. The palate remains vibrant and long and continued to blossom over the course of dinner. Fab bottle from the Queen of Ambonnay.

  • Pretty spectacular, and fully mature for my palate. Dosage shapes the texture, and is felt on the finish in a way I consider rare for Marie-Noelle's wines.

  • This is stunning and in a great place. Superb color, deep gold. Plenty of honey, white flowers, aromatic herbs and grapefruit.
Full body but the great acidity lifts the finish. Super salty, both palate and nose which makes this Champagne so complex and hard to stop drinking.

  • Baked apples (especially on the nose), with cinnamon sticks, a bit of nutmeg, but balanced out with lots of lemon zest so its more of a perfectly integrated bouquet of flavor rather than a Christmas cake. A bit of strudel on the long finish. Feel like this one has aged even better than the last bottle.
