This remains the best Israeli pinot I have tasted. Not as much power as a traditional overseas pinot, more like somewhere in between a real Burgundy and a traditional overseas Pinot. Good level of red fruit, some vanilla notes from the barrels. Holds up very well but lacks a bit in complexity.

I have loved this wine for many years and I was shocked when I opened this wine and it was on empty. No life, no fruit, the body is there along with tannin and structure but it is fruit hollow - so sad. Maybe a bad bottle.

GHW, Yarden, Pinot Noir 2008: This is IMHO one of the 3 best old world style Pinot Noir to ever come out of Israel. Aged 16 months in French oak barrels. Deep ruby in color with on the nose cherries, red currants, raspberries, dried flowers, loamy dirt, minerals and smoke. Medium-bodied and quite dry with on the palate tart red berry fruit, spices, wet earth, mushrooms, minerals, bracing acidity and tannins that gently coat the mouth with notes of coffee, earth and spices on the long finish. Magnificent. 14% Abv.
