  • Quite fruit driven with a slightly jammy tinge. With air gains some complexity and earthy notes. Great balance but the parta are not quite all together. Will hold onto the last few bottles to see what happens.

  • This one has taken a long time to come around. For the past few years it seemed stalky with firm acid and raspberry crunch but I feel it is now starting to turn a corner. Not a blockbuster black fruited Central Otago Pinot. Has more elegance and is mid weight, more red fruit palate than black. Easy to drink and balanced with reasonable length. Still driven by acid but that’s not unexpected from the cooler vintage. Now starting to develop a touch of secondary notes but I am hoping that with another year it will open more.

  • Screwcap. Dark crimson with orange hue.

Intense dark raspberries and cherry, smoked meats, stalks, fly spray, band aids. Brett?

Similar set of flavours in the mouth though the stalkiness is less prominent. Sweet entry. Chalky tannins are resolved on the acid-driven palate. Doesn’t have a great deal of intensity, either in fruit or in structure. In that sense, it is well balanced; just at the lighter end of the spectrum for Felton Road. Good length.

Opinion: Quite guzzleable. Didn’t meet expectations of a single vineyard pinot, over and above the standard Felton Road. A more delicate expression. Maybe that’s the intent, rather than a fuller and more intense style? Hits it groove on about Day 3. Drink now.

  • Fantastic - classic New Zealand Pinot Noir. Rich, full of berries.

  • Just the one bottle of this, which (maybe) I should have drunk a little sooner.

Relatively high acidity - this was a cool, wet vintage. Flavours on the red fruit spectrum , definitely showing secondary development, and quite long.

An interesting wine, but lacking a real core of ripe fruit, or mature Pinot fragrance, to carry the acid structure.
