(Bo's Bday Brunner + JM farewell - for now) Funky aged cab nose immediately in glass, revealing barnyard and synthetic leathers, hinting of burnt electronics. All this gives way to an inviting, mid-bodied wine held taut with a streak of tall acids, earth and black berries and cracked pepper. Gentle red earth, almost rusty, finish. Drinking rather nicely now!

White Burgundy followed by many others (Sydney, Australia): Coffee/mocha aromas, with lots of Hunter Valley style from the leather and some low level (but not unpleasant) brett. Quite well rounded on the palate, there is a good interplay of savoury and sweet fruit notes. To me it probably just lacks a little structure to take the step to excellent.

Still opaque red brick colour, green/capsicum nose, quite savoury almost smoky, oak noticeable with hints of vanilla, lingering tannins

Funky, idiosyncratic Australian wine even for Hunter. I refer to this particular vintage.
Youthful with a fair degree of acidity (not all natural) but also complex and developed. There is some Brettanomyces but it isn't offensive.
Very enjoyable food wine. Very interesting, with sensual pleasure too.

Enjoyed with Cam as per below note. Liked it a lot, classic Hunter, hint of animale, some sous bois and a smooth finish. Drink now-2015.
