  • Tasted a bottle tonight at a wine bar and was impressed with how well it has integrated. This wine has retained a bright and refreshing acidity. Aroma and flavor notes included cherry juice, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, plum, and floral. The flavors continued over an extended finish - like landing on a cherry vanilla cloud. Wish I owned a few bottles.

  • My last bottle is at least my best bottle. Beautiful ruby color, extremely clear. Nose is dominated by baking spices like clove and cinnamon, with a backbeat of cherry/berry. Nice tangy acid, soft fruit, delicate spiciness, medium finish that is just a bit sour, but not unpleasant.

  • Drunk from double magnum, 1 of only 3 produced. Decanted about 1 hour and consumed over the next 3. Deep red-garnet color. Explosive nose of Asian spices, beets, raspberries, coffee that continued unabated until the last drop was gone. Very full on the palate (as one would expect from a young Pinot) with oodles of fruit, a healthy dollop of oak, and more coffee. Moderate finish. This is a great example of Oregon Pinot that, though exuberantly fruity, tastes like Pinot rather than Syrah. There didn't seem to be any noticeable structure, so I doubt the wine will get better or last very long. Who cares, it's delicious. Paired fabulously with slow-roasted pork spare ribs.

  • Drinking really well now. No detailed notes as this was on a camping trip. Fruit is more integrated than the last bottle, nice finish. Paired well with the cheese, smoked salmon and steak.

  • Probably should have waited a week or two after receiving these, as the wine seems just a bit discombobulated. However, there is much to admire even now. The nose features lead vocals by spice with harmonies by cherry and cola, with barnyard on cowbell. In the mouth, the fruit lays down a smooth rhythm track punctuated by earth on lead guitar. The finish is medium, the feel is velvet-y, and that cowbell, well you're going to want a little more of that.

I can't wait to see how this one tastes in another three months.
