  • Tasted in a group with Xavier94, I defer to his detailed note.

  • Love the style here, though the aromas and flavors were quite tight through the afternoon. I love the high-toned impression of tea spice/earl grey bergamot type impression with cinnamon, beetroot/undergrowth interplay with the pale red fruits. Fine, spicy texture in more delicate, fresh style. Some thought the freshness (of the vintage) didn’t allow the wine to open out as readily and while I agree, the elegance and integrated tannins provide an enjoyable experience today. Absolutely no rush on this. Drink over the next 10+ years. Would love to try some other ‘93 Georges Noellat.

  • MM Tuesday Night Zoom Tasting (Vancouver, BC): Drank along side the 1991 Georges Noellat Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes. Quite restrained and not showing much on the nose. Spicy clove, some dried mango, a touch of VA, and dried black fruits. This bottle isn't corked but seems somewhat off and quite atypical for a 1993. The palate is much better, showing dried cherries, lots of spice, cranberry, and a touch of iron. Finished with a hint of sweetness. The palate saved this however in the end this was no match for the Les Chaumes which was just singing tonight.

  • Much better than previous bottle. Cork was hard and unstained. Had to have been recorked. Nice mature burg nose that evolved over time of earth red fruits, mushroom, and a light sharp green. Surprisingly young at first. Had some harsh notes (metallic, drying) that fading after an hour. Had solid red/black fruits, good tannic structure, solid acid core. Nice wine. Based on this bottle, plenty of time left but no need to wait.

  • I'm always amazed that the fruit doesn't fade away on 25 year old burg. Very clean, garnet color and good clarity. Can I really say almost bright red fruit. Media plus acid. Tannins are fully integrated resulting a very smooth, elegant feel. Very enjoyable.
