Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2019 Edition; 10/17/2019-10/20/2019 (Piedmont, Italy): Young and still at the early stages of its drinking window but still elegant and very solid wine and we did not feel it was in any way missing a step. Bright fruits, cherries, touch of an a light floral side and very bright and energetic in the palate. A solid 91 for now but with lots of capacity both to age and also develop higher scores.

Expressive nose with orange peel, light in color, beautiful acidity, very well balanced, black cherry, blackberries, licorice, sandstone, delineated, powerful yet soft and smooth tannins, long lasting finish, a very seductive wine with great aging potential.

Barolo & Barbaresco $50 Double Blind (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Pale rose red with onion skin rim; pretty nose, floral galore, roses, strawberry and soft red cherry, feminine and pure; the nose reveals that this wine is siren-like with its enticing nose and somewhat brutal palate, youthful tannin and acid are a bit punchy, a bit singular in its expression but hard not to like this elegant youthfully taught Barbaresco, no 2011 overripeness and no oak coming through are good signs of graceful aging potential.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA): Crimson core showing good clarity, orange in rim; roses, candied cherry, pretty, wild strawberry; grippy palate, mineral, oak tannin, Robitussin, lighter more elegant; sexier than most Gaiuns but needs more time.

Much more nuanced vs the 2011 Martinenga. Orange zest aroma. Med/+ acid, has some woody/modern bend to the palate, although not sweet oak.
