Ruby just turning garnet. Pleasing scents of baking spice, ginger, brown sugar, raw beef, oak and strawberries. Supple, mature dusky flavors of baked cherry tart. Lacking complexity and depth, best to consume now.

My second bottle - still a lot of dark fruit we get cherries and plums - no raspberries this time - also a woody element - medium tannins acidity - acidity still more dominating - but still a good balance - and acidity also provide freshness to the dark fruit in the wine. We clearly also get oak. But that goes well with the wine. A good long aftertaste - but we are lagging a bit in complexity - the wine still has a nice structure - we are happy to stay at 93.

Decanted two hours. This has a slightly rustic nose of blackberry, brambles and earth. On the palate it is fully mature. Black currant, plums, earth and iron come through on the palate. There is noticeable oak treatment but it has integrated into the wine pretty well. This probably could have used even a longer decant as it seemed to get better as the night wore on. Still has up to ten years of life ahead of it.

Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Galit - Chicago IL): Tasted just after the 2002, this slightly disappointed. Still very big but the oak dominated tonight. Previous bottles were much better, but I don't think cellar age is this wine's friend.
