Just a bit more accessible than a barrel sample at this point. Hugely concentrated black cherry with plenty of meat and spice. Lacking any nuance at this stage, but plenty of stuffing and breadth that should serve it well. Hold for 10-15 years.

Monday Night Football and Grand Cru (Chicago, IL): It's almost obscene to open this right now, but man is it so delicious. It seems to me that the reputation for very high oak use has been dialled back a fair bit. This wine tastes like a barrel sample -- it is just an exuberant display of fruits of all sorts. Underneath it, there is definitely lots of structure, but the thing that is most prominent right now is the exuberant generosity of fruit. It's delicious.
