  Casual (Mostly) Burg Dinner with Friends (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): An eccentric wine. Meaty and concentrated with lots of mature black fruit, lots of forest floor, lots of animale and leather, perhaps not always in the greatest of harmony, but always interesting.

  Gradually decant in bt, color is deep garnet. Nose is strawberries, plenty of hawthorn. On palate, a unique floral aroma takes the stage, there is also some tea, spice and more strawberries. Tannin slightly dry but good balance of aweet fruit and lively acidity, long finish too.

  2Oct2015, another bt from the same lot, deep garnet. Nose of puri (Chinese tea), and cherry. Concentrated and palate staining in mouth, good balance of sweetness and acidity, tannin is present but not intrusive. Spice and dry extract noted that provide a rd currant finish that last.

  Charmes-Chambertin Dinner (Boka - Chicago IL): Served single blind in flight of mid-aged Charmes-Chambertin. Sadly slightly corked. Great fruit with lots of power and ripeness behind the cork. Very surprised when this was unveiled as the Roty 1988 given the softness of the wine's structure. I have 3 more bottles in the cellar and will have to open another soon.
