Evolving really nicely with some time in the bottle. This has the bright fruit and structure of the best Cru Beaujolais, but it is from a distinctly different place with a smoother mouthfeel and a bit less earthiness. Delicious stuff.

A lovely bottle of Gamay, young though. Everything you'd want from a Cru Beaujolais, except from California. Which, in a way is a bit of a letdown for me. It reminds me of a ripe year Fleurie (like the '09 Vissoux Poncie), just without the stuffing to really go somewhere. And I think Steve Edmunds work with this fruit reflects something more connected to the vineyard, rather than a view towards replicating something from Burgundy. I don't want to sound like a hater - we did really enjoy the wine - but I guess I had hopes for something that had more of its own voice. That said, the wine is very young, and this is their first vintage, and I'm on board to see what they can do next.

Much more acidity than earlier bottles, which struck me as strange. Still, very delicious.

Bright and energetic sour cherry. Distinctive and pleasing.
