  Nose of plum, undergrowth and smoke.
  
  The mouth remains young, with a lot of freshness and length with this triptych spotted on the nose which is found in the mouth with a dense juice: plum, undergrowth and smoke. The wine has gained in finesse compared to the younger Montepulciano. Nice peppery finish that can resemble a Brunello.

  Emidio Pepe Agriturismo Visit and Aurora Vertical Tasting; 10/29/2022-10/30/2022 (Emidio Pepe Winery): #5 in the line-up of 7 wines in the Aurora vertical tasting paired with dinner at the Emidio Pepe Agriturismo. My favorite wine of the vertical - this sat in the sweet spot of aged but still showing its fruit. This was quite elegant and silky with a lovely nose and long finish. Paired with Agnello, Pepperoni e Menta. Delicious!

  我不曾想过，自己会对一只完全不在我审美范围内的意大利葡萄酒—Emidio Pepe，报以如此之大执念。以至于，我在短短10天内已经开过四瓶之多。
  中午12点在酒窖拔塞瓶醒，随着酒塞滑出一股清新、明亮的红色梅果气息扑面而来——带着清晨的露珠，覆盆子的每一寸褶皱都带着细腻的毛绒划过舌苔。酒窖没有酒杯，那种鲜美的撩动迫使我随手找了个矿泉水瓶盖倒了几滴，送入口中，充满摩擦力的口感和单宁的紧致把我从那红色的梦境中一脚踹出，深沉有力……
  经过6个小时的等待，深红宝石色晶莹的液体滑入酒杯后，是咸鲜的质感下，包含着深邃、成熟的浆果气息和悠悠的花香。口感逐渐舒展、柔顺后，表现出非单宁所带来的“块状”结构充斥口腔，层次明晰、复杂，酚类物质所带给口腔每一寸触觉细胞的摩擦感都不尽相同，如波浪般袭来的高潮，直到全部咽下，都经久不衰，分不清是触觉，还是精神在持续作用着整个口腔。那是粗旷却不缺乏质感和细节的趣味。满足到无力招架，却又迫不及待的要再来一次。
  两小时后，这时候咸鲜退去，只剩花香在口中绽放。
  也许在我“审美”范畴以外的“粗旷”，也是我内心深处埋藏许久的呐喊吧。

  A delightful restaurant choice, even at the inflated rent-bound cost. A rich dark ruby red envelops the palate. The nose has distinct sangiovese tones without the finer delineation of a great Brunello. On the palate, smokey, mid cherry, foresty wild berry, and some peat notes, all soft and very palate coating. While lacking a little in top-end complexity, this is a fine choice. No decanting needed (they recorked in 2017).
