Lovely, soft, evolved wine, with some cedary wood, forest floor and a bit of red fruit. Medium bodied and silky, it went excellently with steak tartare.

What a great surprise... it manages to cover all the Burgundy notes in an hour. At first this is all bass and lower feral notes of forest floor but then it switches up an octave and the perfume notes of cherries and pomegranite swirl out of the glass. Finally it kicks out some 2011 green notes that are more than welcome, giving some snap. Great stuff. Will keep.

Beaune remote wine exchange night. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of traditional Chinese medicine hall, dried green herbs, Pi Pa Gao licorice, Ling Yang. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, almost full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, black cherries, licorice, dried earth, dried Chinese herbs with greenness. Grippy very mildly rustic long finish. Good quality. Seriously made wine but perhaps a lesser appellation. 2011 vintage characteristics quite obvious. Not for further ageing. Drink up.
