Decanted this and then started to drink about 90 minutes later with pepper steak with garlic/mushroom/sour cream sauce.
The nose on opening was bursting with fruit; this has moderated 90 minutes later - but still dark fruit, slightly perfumed.
On the palate it's very smooth - dark red berries, a hint of smokiness, moderate- tannins which coat the mouth nicely. There is little acidity, and this is not a heavy wine despite the 14.5% alcohol.
The finish is moderately long, fresh and has more of that smokiness, in a good way.
Overall this is a very nice and approachable wine which would pair with a lot of foods - great with beef, but I could imagine drinking it with tomato-based veggie pasta dishes also.
Sadly this is the last bottle that my dealer had, otherwise I would be getting a few more in at ~US$40.

30 minute decant through a powered aerator. Deep garnet with a translucent rim. Nose of sawdust, allspice and fresh strawberries. Taste is similar but with an initial Big acidic bite that mellows on the finish. Low tannins. Nice lingering finish (probably it’s best feature). Medium bodied. Gets better with more airtime so give it a longer decant.

Not as complex as my last bottle, but still very good. This bottle seemed more Grenache-ey than the other which had more of a syrah character. Darker fruit. Silky, round, long. I wish this was cheaper and easier to find because I really like the style.
