  • Pale gold and as per prior note, but based on this bottle fully ready. The richness remains but the energy and tension have diminished. Enjoy soon and with food 18.25+. Day 2 and boom, again, the tangerine oil and acid spine is again prominent. La Romanee is a vineyard that produces large scaled CM and this one is typical, and ready. Enjoy 18.75.

  • Luminous pale gold in colour with a rich nose of nuts, orange peel and oak spice. It’s the white burgundy equivalent of a Negroni. Rich, bitter, sweet fruited and stoney all at once. Long flavour, but lacking the mineral acid drive needed for long term/longer term cellaring. Rich honeycomb finish, great with salmon. I’d be cautious about the long term for this so enjoy it’s obvious quality now.
    Day 2: Wow! Yet another WB vastly improved with some air, as the wine is finer, tighter and with the slightly exotic richness held in check by now more obvious acidity. Additional flavours now showing including banana, toasted pineapple, tangerine skin (the Negroni thing), citrus oil, salty honey and extraordinary length. Splash decant when serving and serve a little cooler than usual.

  • Cooler notes of steel, citrus, lemon peel, some herbal notes too, lots of minerality. It's medium+ bodied with really nice persistence, has medium-high acidity and very good length. A really pretty Romanée that is just developping more complexity with bottle age. I really like this.

  • During a tasting. Discrete nose of lemon, flowers with a touch of herbs. Crisp and classic.
