I drank this one small glass at a time over a 3 week period from a Coravin Timeless device. I did not record my first impressions but I thought it was of an OK wine at first. Last 2-3 glasses are clearer. The color shows no particular sign of aging. Austere nose of pencil shavings. Dry with relatively harsh tannins on the palate. I would normally rate this lower based on my final impression, but there may have been something better in there earlier, but I doubt it, since my preservation device has been working very well for all other wines I have tasted in the same time frame.

Two years since I last tasted this and it has not changed its profile and probably is never going to be anything more than an everyday drinker. I had always assumed it was from the Léoville Poyferre vines but I read from a fellow reviewer that this is not the case. It is branded with the Poyferre name and image, but is totally underwhelming and overpriced.

This is not the second growth of Leoville Poyferee (that's Pavillion) but another vineyard that they have tucked away somewhere. This particular wine is not a great wine but it does have a certain depth about it that reminds me of the master wine at its best = on the nose, the wonderful dark full nose of cassis and smouderling frog; great if simple (and possibly simplistic) balance on the palate.
So, all in all, a good wine.
