  • Decanted for a couple of hours. Good signs at first - lovely bramble aroma in the glass. Initial taste of fruit and spice that seemed to disappear pretty quickly - short finish I would say and starting to lose it's fruit. Not a great vintage this so I would drink up if you've got any of this lying around..

  • Dark red, slightly brown rim. Funk and barnyard fresh from the bottle, closed, exotic spices, cassis, some pencil notes. Opens up after a few hours in the decanter. Nice on the palate, fresh, medium body, good length, integrated tannins. Suffers from the vintage, the fruit is slightly underwhelming.

  • Half bottle, 1 hour decant. Good, still drinkable. Nice tannin and acid balance. A little brick dust and a bit of spice on the mid length finish.

  • Tasted at a Leoville-Poyferre tasting. Only opened an hour or less before tasting. Very purple. Slightly funky nose at first but that faded fairly rapidly with aeration. More fruit than the Ch. le Crock but still dry and slightly astringent. Still quite young. Shows potential and should be somewhat better in two years. Better with food than alone.

  • Bought at Leoville Poyferré in St-Julien. It smells like dark fruit and in particular it smells like cassis. Clearly, the cabernet is showing itself. Currently, it is very pleasant. Not sure if it will improve, but it is already very pleasant and should stay like this for a few years. Without being an extraordinary wine, it had more definition than the Soutard 2003 that was drunk with it. Cassis aromas and flavours - very pleasant and well defined. I enjoyed it and look forward to tasting its big brother Léoville Poyferré. The 1990 tasted like blackberries, this one is black currants. Good wine worth its price.
