M&PD Tasting: Westward (Seattle, WA, USA): Mmmm, perfume, deep UMAMI, not a ton of acid, just warm, cherry compote, really savory, faintly grippy, graphite and blood. Stunning wine.

UZ3. Arguably too young. Decanted for three hours and still fresh and hinting at its potential. Floral notes grew over time, but still was tight on finish. MPD at Westward.

La Paulée de Los Angeles Gala Dinner (The Fairmont - Santa Monica CA): Small glass. Rich and subtle at the same time, with so many layers coming through over the several sips I was able to enjoy from my healthy pour. Still wonderfully young and robust. As good as I can ever recall for this wine.

Initially a bit tight on the nose but it opened up with dark fruit, flowers, spices, nutmeg and charcoal. The wine opened up with more floral character with air in the glass. On the palate, it was deep and structured. Like many 99, it probably needs another 5-7 years to fully unfold. In particular, at this stage, the wine is not very Mugnier in terms of finesse and elegance, which I would be curious to see how it continues to evolve. 93-94

12/15/2023 - Alex G. Does not like this wine:
Burgundy For Lunch Bunch Holiday Event 2023 (Phoenix, AZ USA): Dirty diaper overwhelmed this. Served blind, and upon the reveal we were disappointed but not surprised. Seems like an often troublesome vintage for this wine.
