evidently poorly stored, dry cork which broke in two, but the wine seemed to have held up fine. welcoming aroma of blackberries, tobacco leaf, blackcurrant leaf, a little leather. palate similar, soft but drying tannins, better with food - some black pepper, red fruit, spice. showed best after a couple of hours open. 80% Merlot but tasted Bordeaux rather than varietal. given the storage and age, speaks of a high quality wine for its level. >> surprisingly better after a couple of days under vacuvin - more harmonious and rounded.

3/24 similar to previous bottle almost two years ago. Reasonably dark berry fruit, a creaminess of the fine tannins and a whiff of tobacco complexity.not ‘overtly Merlot’ despite its 80%. Smooth, vibrant and very accessible around a classic frame and profile. Excellent vfm at eleven quid on the table. Holds well over two evenings. ***

Pleasant. Soft tannins, acidity in balance. Medium body. Quite simple with not much on the nose. Nice mouthfeel. A bargain for an aged Bordeaux at €12.
Decanted 1.5 hours.

Unpleasant. Hard to believe it's the same wine as my previous note. Rustic, astringent, grating on the throat, with virtually no fruit.
Did not decant this time, but not convinced that was the difference.
