Drank this bottle undecanted over two hours, spaghetti with red sauce and bread. Very youthful, balanced, good acid. Nose is rich, full-bodied, very earthy, herbal, some pepper. Hard to say for sure, but might benefit from some time. Pretty impressive for $20.

Aroma of blackberry jam. Juicy mouth feel with moderate acidity and tannins. Flavors of black pepper, bitter herbs and sawdust. ABV 14.5. Good food wine.

No decant, I just let the wine evolve in the glass as I was prepping dinner (on the first night). Aromatically exuberant, the wine reminded me of warm plums and black cherry compote, permanent marker and mint. On the palate I also got strong impressions of espresso and iron. The palate is medium bodied and juicy with a long finish.
My notes for day two are identical. Five days after being opened, but sealed with vacu vin, the wine is well-preserved with subtle differences. The palate seems more sweetly fruited and the alcohol makes itself known on the finish with a little peppery heat.

Soulful, earthy, still has nice blackberry and plum fruit, but with accents of truffle, roasted meat, and tobacco.
