Always delicious wines from Gaja, even if their wines rarely qualify as value for money. Of what I've drunk from their BdM stable, I felt this was the first bottle that didn't sparkle. The experience was of a delicious but rather simple BdM.
If it wasn't for the wonderful tannin structure, the birds would have known if I hadn't set 80p... (Swedish expression that Google Translate messed up, so I'm keeping it for the sake of fun)
It was easy to leave wine for for chef. He got eough to share with his whole staff...

Henger fint i glasset.

Straight from a friend's cold impeccable cellar. Aromatic nose with perfume, red fruits, charcoal and spice. you notice the fine Italian tannins first, those characteristic tannins of that country that cry out for food matching rather than solo drinking. This has years to go. Not yet at it's peak. Medium bodied in flavour but with high slightly noticable alcohol. didn't get chance to decant, i think it would benefit from a 2 hour breathing or a few more years in the cellar.

Tertiary earthy notes of dried fruit and raisins. Some tannic bite, but rounded and lovely.

Drinking in Taos, NM. Nothing short of phenomenal!
Beautiful sweet notes of violet, blueberry, licorice and menthol. Great mouth feel, with firm structure and a long finish. 94-95.
