Hooked up to nitro canister and followed over several nights. Vanilla-flavored tobacco with some green wood on the nose. Initially was a tight and backwards, but opened and softened up with 90 mins of bottle air. Soft red berries and cassis are predominant flavors in this fruit-driven wine. Backbone is fading with air, but I'm confused about the remaining longevity. My last bottle so I won't worry, but unsure how I'd approach if I had more. A decent wine, but better exists for $10-20 less at this price point. Could be the vintage, as this is my only MRR Merlot.

Coravin'd a few glasses; Jeff Gargiulo was the last winemaker we spoke with after leaving the Napa Auction farewell brunch today at the home of Quintessa's owners. Solid wine with minimal air; Sweet tannic nose, very smooth mouthfeel, punctuated by black cherry, blueberry, faint saddle leather. I'd guess this is approaching its peak, and concur with the "drink by '17" comment, though its great today.

Restaurant pop and pour, followed over 3 hours. Lavender, toasted oak and sweet tannins on the nose; earlier in the evening the tannins left a rough back-palate aftertaste, but this blew off after 90 mins into a sweet finish dominated by red and blue fruits. Will drink next bottle within 18 months, expect that these should be drunk by 2018-19. But in a very nice place now, decanting would make this great within 30-45 mins.
