This is a very elegant Victorian Cabernet. Dense black red in colour. Blackberry, black currant, cedar and mint on the nose. The eucalyptus not obvious in this bottle but it’s probably buried in there somewhere. Beautiful palate, and BDX like, specifically a good St J such as Beychevelle. Lovely balance and elegance, with that wonderful combination of richness and leanness, drinking very well now but no need to rush. Two bottles opened in one week were identical.

Excellent, superb wine. 13.5% alc. Colour: deep black berry Bouquet: blackberry fruit and jam, dark chocolate, soft oak and vanilla character, spicey, coffee, Palate: lovely full bodied wine as it opens out over 3 hours, similar characters to bouquet, plus plums and other black fruits - cherries - eucalyptus, soy, huge but soft tannins, ultra dry and long finish. Mainly secondary traits, but some primary left As Xavier Auerbach said 'A lovely wine of charm and vigour'. September 2019

Identical to my previous note. Showing wonderfully well, ripe blackcurrant fruit, harmonious, balanced, flavoursome and characteristic. A lovely wine of charm and vigour.

Much better than the previous bottle in December 2012 and the two that came before. Rich and velvety, some nutty evolution on the nose, deep, the usual blackcurrant and eucalyptus notes softened slightly by age, vibrant structure, good tannic grip and length. Good wine, fully mature.

Tasting this wine I was sure to find syrah in the wine, but I was wrong, so you cannot say it is a skinny cabernet. No, it is a full wine, deep in colour, nearly sweet in the nose and down under-hefty in style. The conclusion: far better than I hoped to taste and extremely lively after 12 years.
