  • {cork, 12.5%} Didn't realise I'd had this so recently until I checked. This bottle was a carbon copy of last September's. Very austere (or, should I say dark green), herbal, lean. Some cassis, olives. Basil, twigs. Medium-bodied, nicely judged french oak, polished medium dusty tannins; structural balance is good. But it just doesn't taste terribly nice. Needs some cedar and tobacco to give it charm. Can't see that coming, ever...

  • {cork, 12.5%} Decanted for an hour, but still a restrained nose. Developing aromas of green olive and leafy currants don't promise a lot, but have a quiet authority to them. The palate is middle-aged, not terribly intense, but polished and subtle. It's got a little Australian eucalypt about it; medium-bodied, and with soft dusty tannins. It doesn't lack freshness either, although it appears a long way from its peak; or else possible this is all there is. Which sounds more damning than it should; it's an understated but competent - perhaps unfashionable - wine which manages a medium length finish of quiet presence. Probably worth holding another 5 years I reckon.

  • Completely buggered, fruit completely stripped.

  • Good fruit intensity with lovely dusty tannins and nice balance. Medium bodied with notes of blackcurrants, tobacco and some smoky undertones which add some nice complexity and interest. Aging very well and think this will still have 5+ years of development ahead of it which will allow it to mellow further.

  • Restrained; some leafy cabernet aromas on nose, but overall rather closed. The palate is dry, a bit unyielding - tannic, certainly, not unripe, of medium weight. Seems in a void between primary & developed; it's not youthful, but neither is it old. Not exactly charming either; maybe should be held another 5 years in the expectation of more development. Not a certainty though; I have a nagging fear it'll just fade away into astringency. But, not yet...
