Tasted blind. This was great to drink, layered, ever changing and super well delineated. At first the opulence draw me to Napa Valley, then I thought of a powerful but slutty high-end Bordeaux 2009 but as suddenly some intense meaty notes and stems kicked-in and I was left puzzled. No wonder, 40% Blaufränkisch alongside 30% Cab and 30% Merlot... not your usual blend. All in all this is a lot of fun to drink, first stage of maturity but with for sure at least 10 more years of life.
TN: Stark oak aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, ripe but in no way overripe dark fruit, lots of spices with time some mushroom, some tobacco, stems and suddenly very meaty. Very well-delineated aromas, quite intense and complex, all embedded in a powerful structure with very fine tannins and a good acidity.
Decanting: Decanted for approx. 2 hours which seemed fine.

Tasted blind. Deep, dark, jammy fruit, dark olive paste, some herbs in there too but very much in the background. Hints of pepper and spices. Also had a chocolate phase. Could have sworn this was a Washington State Syrah. Incredible. High intensity fruit on the palate, but in good balance with the full body. Soft and velvety tannins. A figurehead for Austrian red wine.
