  • Super! Velvety smooth and still fruity, this is an elegant wine that is terrific with Thai food!

  • Previously tasted at the winery last month and previously from bottle eight months ago and my notes were consistent. When first opened, the nose actually showed more soft honey and peach, but with some time, the apple/pear and citrus notes that I recalled previously shone through. Medium body with expressive fruit notes of apple and pear upfront, peach through the middle and tart melon and citrus on the backside. What continues to make this wine special however is its ability to retain its acidity. The contrast provides gives the wine backbone and allows it to balance the more open, upfront fruit notes. Like many Wiemer rieslings, this wine should be able to hold this level for some time to come, but I would recommend drinking sooner as this wine will endure, not improve with additional cellar time.

  • Tasted at the winery. Previously tasted from bottle seven months ago and my notes were generally consistent. Apple, melon and citrus on the nose at first, bringing in peach as it warms. Medium bodied with apple and pear upfront, deeper peach through the middle and melon and citrus notes on the backside. Retains the acidity to provide very good contrast. As compared to the 2012 basic Dry Riesling, this Reserve had more complexity, more mid-body depth and more tart notes and acidity on the backside. Continues to hold up well and should be able to maintain this level for another few years. Next from bottle for me will be July 2019.

  • Prior bottle was only four months ago, so my notes were quite similar. Apple, pear, peach and light spice notes on the nose. Medium bodied with apple and pear upfront, peach, melon and soft orange through the middle and tartness and lemon towards the back. Acidity throughout provides contrast and acidity on the back/finish provides structure and length. Wine continues to show excellent balance and as long as the acidity can maintain this level, it should have several more years in front of it. Next bottle for me in either June/July 2019.

  • Mixture of tropical notes and pear that got more expressive the longer this wine was open. Medium bodied (12.7% ABV) and like the 2012 Magdalena, took 60-90 minutes to really open up. Starts off with orchard fruit upfront (apple, pear, peach) and then transitions towards richer, more tropical notes (especially orange and melon) in the middle. It has enough acidity to keep balance between the various fruits and provide a good backbone. Finishes shows solid mineral qualities. The strength of this wine was in the expressiveness, polish and roundness of the fruit, especially though the middle. This wine has life ahead of it, but should show it's best over the next 18 months. Next bottle for me, probably year-end 2018.
