Community Tasting Notes (5) Median Score: 89 points

  • Nice ruby colour. Some dark fruits, mostley oxidiced cherry and some woody aromas. A bit acoholic and a very dry woody finish. Started to develop cherry notes(oxidised). Guess it was much better 5-6 years ago, but generally over-oaked.
Vinmonopolet's description og this wine is misleading.

  • Good amount of red fruit with well balanced structure.

  • No formal notes taken during dinner with lamb. Just the right amount of fruit showing initially, strong mid palate which supports the intense lamb flavour without fighting it. Nice and smooth finish, not overly tannic. Considering the amount of acidity it should be fine for at least another 3-5 years.

  • Curranty red fruit, flower and woody aromas from the cork. Medium+ intensity nose that goes back and forth between savoury and fruity with freshly tilled earth, blackberry, dark currant with hints of herb and spice. The palate is medium+ bodied with appealing eucalypt, black licorice, dark currant, earth flavours. Quite complex. It's well-balanced with mouth-watering acids, and in a good place right now. Hints of violet on the long finish. Dusty tannins with good structure will drink well for the next 5-7 years. The braille on the label is an interesting touch that reads "Cepas Viejas" and translates to "Old Vines". Perfect for pairing with lamb.

  • The wine is clear and bright with a medium ruby colour and presence of legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium(+) intensity aromas of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, dark plums, dry figs and hints of violets. The wine is dry with a medium(+) acidity. It has medium(+) fine-grained tannins and a high warm alcohol. It has a medium(+) body and medium(+) intensity flavours of coffee, vanilla, dark plums, dry figs and hints of violets. The finish is medium(+).

It is a very good quality wine. It has a nice fruit concentration well-balanced by the acidity supported by tannins and the finish is very decent. It has some degree of complexity, but not enough to consider it and outstanding wine, and it is, maybe, showing subtle hints of oxidation. Can drink now, but it has enough tannic structure, acidity and fruit concentration to develop some more tertiary aromas in the next 1-2 years.
