Still a remarkable, iconic wine, but a bit of a disappointment compared to other vintages. Medium (+) to deep ruby fading to garnet. Thick, dark, viscous legs. The nose is clean, developed and oak-centric, with aromas of blackberry cobbler, overripe cherries, creme brûlée, sweet baking spices and Asian spices. The palate is dry, with a hint of RS and very fruit-forward. Medium to medium (-) acidity, medium, polished tannins and very high alcohol (15.5%). The flavors are consistent with the nose, with primarily ripe black cherry and milk chocolate. The wine is full bodied to robust, but with only medium to medium (+) flavor intensity and length, less than the 2009 or 2013 versions. At eight years of age, it's more developed than I would have thought, compared to the 2009 JC SPC or the 2009 Rock Wall SPC then they were the same age. Drink up.

High-octane Zin. Loads of blackberry at first, resolving to more savory notes of olive tapenade. Tannins could resolve a bit more. Worth sitting on for at least another year.
