In just over a year this wine has changed for the better. It's not a great wine. Hummus, earthy and peppery nose is clipped and short in the mouth, but it's no longer astringent or sour. One bottle left and I'll give it 10 years.

Opted to try this for myself despite some negative notes here based on the fact that the vast majority of '11s I've had have been good if not great.
The nose is very open and expressive, exhibiting classic pinot aromas.
On the palate, initially, the openness of the nose continues. On the finish, however, there is an unmistakable, astringent bitter note that I couldn't get away from. It did subside a bit with time and air. By no means unpalatable but not a rebuy for me. The first '11 that I've encountered with this character.

This was much better than the last bottle. The sourness has subsided and the fruit is much more upfront. This was much more enjoyable...i guess she just needed time!

Eye: Ruby Nose: Oak, funk, red fruit Palate: Raspberry, some funk with med acidity and a short-med finish.
Overall this wine seemed to have a bit of a green or sour finish which was odd. Looking to see where this goes but do not have high hopes...Stay tuned.

On day one, as BH note suggests, slightly reduced nose without a decant. Vegetal nose lacks any appeal, almost smells of rot and/or under ripeness. Thin and dilute palate. Day two, decanted for about an hour, the nose is more brown sugar and spices and the wine is more complete and full. Perhaps it just needs air, though there is still an herbal, astringent note on the finish that reminds me of 2004.
