Invino said try this with your best spaghetti and meatballs recipe. Close enough: I was making a very casual, comfort-food baked rigatoni with organic Niman Ranch Italian sausage and Baby Bella mushrooms. I popped the cork about the time I tossed the noodles in the oven, so it ended up with about an hour or so of air. I didn't sip any before dinner, and the tannins are still a bit firm as I'm sipping some after dinner - but Invino called it, this thing just sang with our pasta bake. If my notes are right, and I only paid $14 for this gem ... I'm glad I have a few more.

On the nose, rustic , earthy, barnyard, figs, soy, fennel, tea, roasted characteristics. On the palate, sweet upfront, nimble, medium acidity. Short on the finish. Not as rich and concentrated as the piano di montevertine riserva which was tried at the same time. Great QPR.

Aromatic nose of berries and minerals. Dark cherry and blackberry fruit, cedary tannins, a nice minerality and hints of tobacco. Lovely lingering finish. It has that dry yet luscious quality you often find in S. Italian reds. Very nice, and amazing QPR for $13.

Colour: Deep red, sediments in the glass. Smell is lovely and interesting, but the alcohol is too dominant. The wine is very dry, with nice tannins. Leather, dirt, dark red fruits. A great wine with personality.

Fruitier finish that I am accustomed to, so I am am surprised I like it. Overall a good value for an everyday drinking wine
