Pinot from around the world (Pacific Dining Car): Tasted blind. A touch of wet cardboard at first had me worried this was corked, but it blew off. Excellent acidity, perfumed nose showing spicy raspberry; great well-delineated finish (though the tannin is very soft). Maybe GC Burgundy?
After the reveal: this was a real surprise. Showed fantastically.

Clear red colour. Great nose with bright red fruits mingled with damp earth, herbs and some gamey notes. Elegant and medium bodied on the palate with tart red fruit flavours, earth and a little greenness over bright acidity and smooth, well integrated tannins. Finishes with medium length. With air the fruit seemed to fade and the greenness became a little more prominent. This seemed to be just past its peak - I would have loved to try this bottle a couple of years before.

Mauve tinge;raspberries& strawberries, smokey edge, clean; soft fruit & a little tannin, lovely texture & weight, youthful but enjoyable now. 16Colour holding; nose remains showy but still attractive; palate starting to dry; an edgy finish. 15?
