Youthful bright red with purple tints. Voluminous nose, very Gevery with wild notes of smoked bacon overlain by red plum and cherry, toasty oak still on show. Beautiful palate, power without weight, vegetable matter, beets, red fruits and a mineral spice inflected finish. I’m impressed, the ripeness of the vintage held in check by the structure, tension and energy, this could be GC quality? Leave for 2026 before trying again.

After WWS, KEVIN & KELLY IN BURGUNDY – FAIVELEY, BOUZEREAU, MERME, REMOISSENET, DUJAC & COMTE LIGER-BELAIR; 11/11/2013-11/14/2013 (Burgundy): I must confess that this is my favorite 1er cru Gevrey obviously excluding CSJ that is priced more like GC. Delicate sweet red fruits, raspberry preserves, mocha and earth. Good concentration, balance and structure. It is quite nice now but will improve.
