Beautiful nose of very ripe melon and apricot, dried fruit notes, honey and toast. On the palate, however, not enough fruit, especially in the finish, which is very saline. This wine is well past its peak, unfortunately.

A touch more reductive compared to the ‘89 Les Clos. This showed a more honeyed fruit profile in the beginning that eventually morphed into a rich and ripe, full-bodied Chablis with flavors of citrus, yuzu and seashell accompanying the mineral finish. A creamier version of the ‘89 Les Clos served beside it. Amazingly this was showing its best about 5-6 hours after the first pour.

Bottle, fill and cork all sound. This is a big wine and needs air. Full bodied for chablis, but it definitely delivers the sea, chalk and citrus elements with precision. Really held up well over a few hours gradually taking on a more golden hue with tertiary characterisitics. Grand cru mais oui!

Light gold to gold in color. Minerals and a hint of lemon on the nose. Ultra clean, crisp, and ripe on the palate. Sustained finish. This really was what I consider to be the essence of gran cru chablis.
