  • Pale gold appearance, some green

Unusual and distinctive nose of fennel, celery (electric celery!), verbena and mineral pools – very cool alpine fresh feel and not overtly saline.

Attack displays some richness and there is a wave of sea-like flavours/aroma, slightly lower acid though plenty fresh, lifted and clean – defined. Has a rounded core, touches of baked apple and the merest oxidative, leesy note on the finish.

On return, the nose continues to stand out as something unusual – sort of stems and spicy tropical notes, a little cream and builds in an overall spiciness – lovely undulating palate in terms of texture.

This was a real treat. Tense and true to type but layered and continued to unfurl and express itself throughout the evening.

  • Beautiful super precise and intense with linear but not searing acid line that expands across the back of the mouth in the extremely long finish. All the white fruits plus minerals and flashes of vanilla in a tight ethereal package.

  • Medium yellow. Right out of the bottle, pure citrus and brine, none of the reductive aromas that sometimes plague these bottles. Glycerine and full bodied. A lemon bomb on the attack, beautiful ripe fruit/acid balance that reminds me of many 2002’s, not the most mineral example but a lingering soil finish. Outstanding wine in early days of maturity. It is glorious to have one that is every bit as good as it should be.

  • Oddly the next bottle from the same case was not singing - it was a bit heavy and clumsy… not POX, just variation.
