Nice burgundy color, clear, still lots of purple (though touches of ruby/orange starting to filter through). Classic Vosne Romanee nose, touch of bark/barnyard, but lots of strong fruit as well (cherry, cassis). Well balanced on the palate, with a touch of tannin still evident. Paired fantastically with roast chicken, fresh bread, and some nice camembert.

Started off a bit closed. Nice spice notes as it opened up. Nice light cherry notes on taste, but a bit short on taste. Very smooth. May need a bit more time to open up. Nevertheless an enjoyable bottle. No silly green notes per the biased views of the 2004 vintage.

Howard Ripley 2004 Burgundy Tasting (St. James Club, Piccadilly): Again, good intense ripe red fruit. Even better depth on the palate than the Clavelier, not sure there is quite the same purity but good acidity and promising nevertheless.
