Very high acidity, quite high tannin, strong balsamico flavour as well as tart cherry, and some tart fruitiness. Firm, rustic and mineral. Needs decanting, it greatly improved over time. Might not be for everybody, but true to the style and place of origin. Made for the long haul.

Colares @ Aldea (NYC): A bit milky on the nose, with a very lifted, high-toned palate. Sour cherries, iron filings and rocks. Doesn't sound appealing, but this was fabulous. A bit of a saline edge to this wine, with a palate scraping finish. Hard and stoney in the best possible way.
