  • Tasted blind. Ruby with some garnet on the rim. The nose is clean and developing, with predominantly red fruit aromas and sweet baking spice. Interesting notes of dried herbs, cola, licorice, rhubarb and other savory spice add complexity. The palate is dry, with ripe fruit, consistent with the nose, medium acidity, medium tannins and medium (+) alcohol (13.5%). There's no doubt that this is a New World Pinot Noir. There's a distinct terroir/style coming out of Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Santa Maria, Santa Lucia, which is quite attractive. It is drinking very well now, and it would be interesting to see how it would evolve, if at all, with more aging. It is hard to put down, however, so I doubt people will be drinking this in 5-10 years...

  • It took an hour for the expressive flavors and scents to come out in the wine. Very delicious.
