Very much liked this wine but totaly agree with BrianNH and ashegedyn- very natty stuff. Curious what the flaw is. Want education. But enjoyed the bottle none the less.

Bien aimé malgré les commentaires, pas vraiment comme du Gamay. et loin d'un vin nature. Nez qui pinote, pas trop lourd en bouche effectivement. Somme toute bien pour 54$ payé SAQ.

I very much agree with the previous reviewer- tasted blindly, I'd have guessed a natural wine from Loire or perhaps a gamay from Auvergne. I liked it, but not as a burgundy. It will be interesting to follow the development of this, to see if a burgundy/pernand typicity will shine through.

So I am ambivalent on this nose. It does not smell of Burgundy, Pinot Noir, or Pernand. It has a violet earthy nose reminiscent of Cab Franc natural wines from the Loire or Gamay natural wines from Beaujolais. Very atypical nose for a Burgundy. Taste is bright with the aromas following through. Tannins are fine and hit the front of the palate. Some nice bright fruit and a long finish; however, the violet and geranium notes invade your enjoyment. At this point in its evolution this wine is very young so I don't know if over time this will come together.
Currently it feels like a nice natural wine but not a Burgundy. It seems the character of Pernand, Les Vergelesses, Cote de Beaune is not here. It is more about an approach to winemaking rather than the wine itself. Isn't this an example of human intervention to approach the making of wine that interferes with the expression of terroir? I have had the Corton Charlemagnes before which were quite nice - but never a red from Chandon de Briailles. This is not what I am looking for in Burgundy. Perhaps after some age this will come together.
Even if I am wrong and there is a Burgundian typicity for this wine which I have not experienced in other Burgundies, wine critics owe an explanation to note the extreme difference of this wine to others from Burgundy.
