"Día de los Daddys" (Chicago, IL): Great, old-school Burgundy from a cool vintage. Lightly perfumed with plenty of red fruit notes and a slightly autumnal mushroom note. Wispy and acid-driven on the palate, but with resolved, and slightly powdery tannins. Really nice to experience one of these wines in a relatively mature stage.

Finally- a good bottle. Still some heat and tannins on the backend, but this time enough depth to balance out those elements. Still can't say I love 2001s.

My second bottle, the first was 85+, way too acidic and tannic. This is somewhat better, with a very strong pungent mushroom, barnyard quality that was a bit off-putting (although normally I like some funk). Tart cherry and earth, but still quite acidic. 2001 is still up in the air-depends on the commune, as the fruit isn't terribly ripe. This bottle is again not benefitting from air. Another off bottle, or is this just the wine?

A recent acquistion, more mature and less fresh than I'd anticipated, a little browning on edge. Cherry fruit, mushrooms, good acidity. Not at all bad, just a little tired. Not sure this is a representative bottle . B-
