Took a bit of time to open up. Overall, not as interesting or complex as I’d hoped. Somewhat one dimensional and disappointing. Hope it’s just shut down at the moment.

Dark fruit almost cassis, brooding nose of leathery balsamic notes, on the palate noticeable acidity an a bit rustic tannins with almost a bitter aftertaste - will probably gain from ageing but inmh does not posses the elegance of great burgundy

We spent a month in France the last year most of which was in Burgundy. There was a lot buzz about the 2015 vintages and understandably so. Admittedly this vintage is a few years away, but in my opinion one of the best vintages of the decade. We tasted perhaps 50 different red burgundys while we were there, and for those less than $100, the Domaine Chandon de Briailles 1er Cru Les Vergelesses was one of very favorites. The only problem with this vintage is that you will have to be patient with it, recommend decanting it for a day. Unfortunately all the buzz around the 2015 vintage has created some scarcity, so if you can find it buy all you can get your hands on. My rating reflects the age of the wine and to some extent price.
