A 65th Birthday Celebration (Schur House - Riverwoods IL): Small glass, tasted twice. Popped-decanted-and-poured. Rich red cherry throughout, wonderfully spiced. More mature than I would expect from this producer/ appellation/ vintage, but still very rich and enticing. I'd say 92 points today, but not certain if representative.

Best Bottle Monday with Friends (Carlton, Zurich): PnP. First nose: aromas jumped out of the glass with forest floor, black truffles and cola as well as some stable, some stems with a timid red fruit core underneath. On the palate the same picture but with the sweet red fruit (strawberries) becoming more apparent and all a bit toned down. Good and long rather fruit-driven finish. The balance here is impeccable with intense aromas on the nose (less on the palate) medium acidity, alcohol and tannins (ripe, fine-grained, smooth).
This has been a mixed experience. The first nose was a very good to extraordinary experience (95-97 points?). The palate couldn’t quite keep-up with that (94?) and by the time of the second glass the wine seemed to have closed down (90-92 points?). I hence rate it somewhere in the middle at 94 points. This wine could become something truly good but is not yet there.

Monday Bouteille (Carlton Restaurant, Zurich): An incredibly precise fruit showing the essence of the pinot grape with red fruit (strawberry, raspberry). Very soft oak touch (bread), hardly noticeable. The texture was just a tad watery at this stage I found, but overall a solid structure thanks to good acidity and already smooth tannins that should provide for fabulous aging potential. While many at the table thought this was too young, I would argue you won't be disappointed opening a bottle now. All was in sync and well integrated.

Tamed redcurrant, farmyard, tea leaves, manure. Velvet texture and seductive. A delicate red Côte de Nuits for connoisseurs.

2 hours upon opening serving into 薄はり葡萄酒器 (“Leaf” day): purplish ruby to the eyes.
Red cherry fruits. Some sandalwood with time in glass.
Very mineral indeed with almost saline notes. This is very much still good amount of tannins.
93 points.
