  • My first experience of a Poulsard. Light salmon color, lighter than a Spanish rosado. Nose has lots of strawberry, raspberry, white pepper, cherry, wet green tea leaves, and something a bit musty in a pleasant way. Palate is bright; body is light; and, finish is medium. This seems like a refreshing summer quaff...more like a rosé than a red. I'm undecided about whether I like it...

  • Light red in colour - not much deeper than an onion-skin rose, in fact - and totally translucent. Very attractive nose: something cherryish, something smoky, something savoury yet hard to identify. On the palate, light, graceful, no tannin influence. A very welcome nip of acidity, and enough soft, rounded body to let you know it IS a red. As far as I can remember this is the first Poulsard I've ever had, so when I say I like it very much, and it makes me happy, I'm not saying it's better or worse than other Poulsards, just that it's the most gluggable wine I've had for quite a few months. Organic and biodynamic. Cork, 11.5%.

  • Millesime Bio Fair - Day 2 (Montpellier, France): Aromas of smoke, sour cherries, pickles, clay and a note that reminds me of red beet. All about the freshness on the palate, with crisp acid and lots of minerals. Tangy sour cherry fruit mixes with clay, tobacco and dried rose flavors. Not quite as good as I remember the 2010, but another delicious Poulsard from Bruno Ciofi.
