In my cellar since release and the last bottle of multiple cases we had served for our wedding. This was a nice surprise in my view as I found this in a lower bin in the cellar, long overlooked. Still, it looked bright, medium ruby crimson with a very fragrant and foreword nose. Roses cherry, minerals, charcoal, vanilla, and more layers of complexity on both the nose and palate. Still shockingly youthful. This was clearly a Cali Pinot but it had a nice acid backbone and a certain Burgundian sensibility about it. Very enjoyable with braised leg of lamb and a solid few notches better with the dish than the other reds we had tonight. Savory and gamy, spiced and still reasonably fruited. Long finish and chewy in texture. Really quite a surprisingly youthful and complex wine that was unanimously the wine of the night by a hair over the 1983 Cristal.

Surprisingly it was still good. It took awhile to open up, still jammy and floral as a PN would be. The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.

Nice surprise. Just starting to hint at brick. Still a little fruit left with some earthy, secondary notes starting to come through. A little hot on the finish but great with strip loins on the barbeque. Will last a few more years but won't get any better.

Shame, this was likely a really nice bottle of wine at some point.
