Krotida Wine Gang Tasting, Trying Xinomavro (Simul Restaurant): The wine shows high intensity in the nose, clean ripe red fruit at first and then rusticity comes with olives and tomato, very elegant, some roasted notes, coffee and chocolate, herbal freshness. In the palate, the wine is very delicate, sweet red fruit, spicy, medium body and acidity, medium to big tannins but not aggressive, spicy, earthy, nutty, medium to long finish. Outstanding quality with a long life ahead. The bottle came from the winery so much better provenance.

This wine has improved considerably 3 years after my last effort with it. It remains quite demanding in the palate. The tannins are still very grippy and in need of further time to soften a bit. However the nose is very elegant complex and almost ethereal with fresh juicy fruit, and the mouthfeel is definitelly better balanced. I think it has the potential to gain further in balance.

Medium ruby. Red cherry, tomato, leather and varnish on the nose. Quite complex but not totally clean. On the palate it is medium-bodied with aggressive, drying tannins, high acidity and a med+ aftertaste. A tannic monster at this stage.

Blind tasted at oinoscent. Medium ruby. Medium intensity nose with dark fruit, tomato, herbal and some cedar notes. Good fruit concentration. Med body, high acidity with dark fruits and some spice dominating. The tannins are quite harsh at this stage and although there is the fruit and the acidity, they struggle to balance the wine. This is a very young wine in need of 5+ years to come together (to say the least). Right now is not that enjoyable.

(Dalamara Winery Paliokalias Naoussa) Black tinged very dark cherry red color; tar, smoke, roasted black fruit nose; very appealing, savory, tar, smoke, roasted black fruit palate with tangy medium acidity; needs 5-6 years and should go 30; long finish (14% alcohol)
