Second Sunday Group: Finger Lakes Riesling (Mike & Judi's): Double blind. Opens with a smoky/toasted quality, chestnut perhaps, followed by a nice floral note. Rich texture; good white fruit. A touch of alcohol shows through. Given the floral notes and texture, I could have been talked into viognier here, but as it was, I had no other guess.

Smells and tastes as it should. Rich, yet well balanced, appealing textures, and stalwartly framed.

Pale. Herbal nose. Bright, citric, and earthy, but the overall impression is that it lacks some intensity and concentration of flavor.

Served @ 11c/52f with entree of Grilled Salmon, Risotto & Slaw. Nice, smooth. Very good, but not exceptional.
